Pressure Tanks

Diaphragm tanks:
Diaphragm tanks are commonly used on the
discharge of well pumps and booster pumps to provide water storage for the
system in very low flow situations. It decreases the running time of the
booster pumps, thereby making the system more energy effective. Diaphragm
tanks are pressurized water vessels where the water and air are separated by
a flexible diaphragm allowing the water to expand and absorb pressure
surges.

Expansion tanks: In many of
today’s household water systems the installation of check valves and/or back flow preventers are required by
code. This seals off the system, preventing any increase in pressure from bleeding back
to the mains supply. In these cases a water pressure expansion tank is often required by code to
prevent the hot water heater valve from opening on each heating cycle.
